So he did. Eventually, after some hardships, almost losing his farm, being treated like a crazy man by his friends and neighbors, being ostracized and ridiculed by members of his family, it paid off.

The voice in the cornfield is a metaphor for the voice in our head. The one we hear daily, awake and asleep. The question, the choice, is always whether to listen to it or not.

There is a connection between the power of the mind and the power to create what happens in our life. That process is called manifesting, or bringing ideas and desires into physical form. Manifesting our dreams is the next step we take after identifying our dreams. Everyone possesses the ability to manifest their dreams.

Dreams are important for helping us to find solutions to our daily problems. They help us to see things from different perspectives. To find new realities to consider. To create, problem solve, fantasize, travel – whatever we want. It’s all possible. Ultimately, dreams are our link with our creative selves.

The dream world is a fertile playground. In it we are able to create anything, even things that may seem unreal and impossible in the physical world. We can see and talk to people who are dead. We can visit places that we have never been, both real and unreal. We can fly, run like the wind, breathe underwater, travel among the stars (without vehicles!). Anything. Anything is possible in dreams. We accept this dream-state suspension of reality as surely as we accept physical reality itself.

It is only in our waking state, that we limit ourselves by the non-acceptance of the unbelievable. Our limitations are creations of our conscious, awake mind. And, to often, we cling to these limitations as the only possibilities in our universe. Perhaps, like Ray, we fear the insinuations and accusations of insanity from friends and loved ones.

Listen to yourself. Follow your gut. Dreams come from a place that we wish to be, urging us to move forward. To manifest that dream into reality.

Imagination is key to manifesting dreams. It allows us to experience something before we actually have it. All great adventures start with dreams. And, any dreamer will tell you that the journey is worth it despite the mountains to climb and the bumps in the road.

Dreams are where the creative process begins. Dream manifestation is where the dream becomes the reality.

Gotta go. I have a baseball field to build.

1. Identify your desires. Most of us know already what it is we don’t want. We don’t want to be poor, sick, or unhappy.

1. Identify your desires. Most of us know already what it is we don’t want. We don’t want to be poor, sick, or unhappy. Unfortunately many people cannot identify what it is they truly desire. As a result, they tend to get more of what they don’t want because this is where their energy and attention is focussed. When you start to make a list of things you really and truly desire in your life, then excitement starts to build.

2. Visualise your desires as if you already had them. Make a mental picture of the house, clothes, job, car or whatever it is for you. Focus on all the exquisite details of this picture. Did you know your mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what is imagined? Research has measured the electrical output of the brain in athletes both rehearsing an event as well as performing it -there was no difference in the brain activity. This means that you can feel good about picturing what you want well before you actually achieve it! This is the difference between ‘happily achieving’ and ‘achieving to be happy’. With visualisation you have all the benefits of achieving the goal well before you actually do. There is no ‘when..then’ equation. You are happy now, and you are happy then.

3. As you visualise, really feel the excitement of what it is you truly desire. Imagine yourself behind the wheel of that brand new sports car, feel the wind in your hair, the hum of the engine, the roar as you change gears, let the thrills wash through your body. When we send out very strong positive vibrations in a happy and excited state, we attract the things we desire. They appear as if by magic in ways we never could have planned. Not convinced? Does not matter – if you can feel excited about visualising your desires, just the same as if you did actually have that thing, then why not visualise if it feels good?

4. Create a dream board. This is visual representation of everything you desire. It is designed to help trigger positive visualisations of what you desire. It is a reminder for you to focus on what you do want, not what you don’t. To create a dream board, get a piece of stiff cardboard and collect photos from magazines, articles, brochures – anything that reminds you of what it is you truly desire.

5. Adopt a habit of gratitude. Each morning and each evening, make sure you acknowledge that for which you are grateful. This will make sure you are in a positive state of emotion, and reminds you that you are already incredibly blessed. This in turn makes it easier for you to attract what it is you truly desire.

6. Write a letter to yourself. Write a letter as if you are writing five years from now, reflecting on all the wonderful things that have happened in your life. This is another way of getting you to feel good about your desires, makes you tingle with excitement and gratitude. This puts you in vibrational alignment with everything you want to attract in to your life.

7. Enlist support. Get together with like-minded people who will encourage you and get excited with you about the possibilities of your manifesting and creating wonderful things. Hire a coach to resolve any blocks about your goals and to help you fast-track your success. Seek out a mentor – one who has already achieved what it is you want.

null

8. Take baby steps. When you have clear intentions and focus on your objectives, there will be little signs everywhere that your dream is manifesting – like treasure hunt clues. Make sure you take some action to follow these signs – trust your intuition – it will guide you to make inspired choices.

9. Know that it is coming. Whatever you desire, so it shall be granted. Just like Aladdin’s lamp, whatever you ask for, you shall receive it. It may not arrive at the timetable you plan for, but it is coming. Your job is to be happy in the present moment, visualise and feel good, express gratitude, and anticipate with excitement the manifestation of your dreams.

10. Know you deserve it. If you have any doubts at all about your ability to manifest, or your ‘deserving’ to have your desires, then release this negative anxiety and focus instead on what it is you truly want. This is an abundant world, when you connect with the abundance that is around you, you attract more of it in to your life. Every single person has the same access to the power and magic of this process. Do it for yourself and many more will benefit by your example. There is more than enough to go around when we focus on positive feelings.

The legend of the dreamcatcher is an ancient tradition passed down from the Ojibwe (Chippewa).

“A spider was quietly spinning his web in his own space. It was beside the sleeping space of Nokomis, the grandmother.

Each day, Nokomis watched the spider at work, quietly spinning away. One day as she was watching him, her grandson came in. “Nokomis-iya!” he shouted, glancing at the spider. He stomped over to the spider, picked up a shoe and went to hit it.

“No-keegwa,” the old lady whispered, “don’t hurt him.”

“Nokomis, why do you protect the spider?” asked the little boy.

The old lady smiled, but did not answer. When the boy left, the spider went to the old woman and thanked her for saving his life.

He said to her, “For many days you have watched me spin and weave my web. You have admired my work. In return for saving my life, I will give you a gift.” He smiled his special spider smile and moved away, spinning as he went. Soon the moon glistened on a magical silvery web moving gently in the window.

“See how I spin?” he said. “See and learn, for each web will snare bad dreams. Only good dreams will go through the small hole. This is my gift to you. Use it so that only good dreams will be remembered. The bad dreams will become hopelessly entangled in the web.”

In Lakota tradition, the story of the dreamcatcher differs slightly, but carries the same meaning.

Long ago when the world was young, an old Lakota spiritual leader was on a high mountain and had a vision. In his vision, Iktomi, the great trickster and searcher of wisdom, appeared in the form of a spider. Iktomi spoke to him in a sacred language. As he spoke, Iktomi the spider picked up the elder’s willow hoop which had feathers, horsehair, beads and offerings on it, and began to spin a web.

He spoke to the elder about the cycles of life, how we begin our lives as infants, move on through childhood and on to adulthood. Finally we go to old age where we must be taken care of as infants, completing the cycle.

“But,” Iktomi said as he continued to spin his web, “in each time of life there are many forces, some good and some bad. If you listen to the good forces, they will steer you in the right direction. But, if you listen to the bad forces, they will steer you in the wrong direction and may hurt you. These forces can help, or can interfere with the harmony of Nature.”

When Iktomi finished speaking, he gave the elder the web and said, “The web is a perfect circle with a hole in the center. Use the web to help your people reach their goals, making good use of their ideas, dreams and visions. If you believe in the great spirit, the web will filter your good ideas and the bad ones will be trapped and will not pass.

The elder passed this vision on to his people. Now, many Indian people have a dreamcatcher above their bed to sift their dreams and visions. The good will pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The evil in their dreams are captured in the web, where they perish in the light of the morning sun. It is said the dreamcatcher holds the destiny of the future.

Both traditions are rich in dream lore. The night air is filled with both good and bad dreams. The hanging dreamcatcher swings freely in the night air and catches dreams as they float by. Good dreams know the way to the dreamer, slipping through the open center area and gently sliding down the feathers to the sleeping dreamer. Bad dreams do not know the way and are caught in the intricate web surrounding the center, where they perish with the first light of the new day.

Dreamcatchers have become neo-traditional in most Native American cultures. Traditional dreamcatchers were small, only a few inches across. They were made of bent wood and sinew string with a feather hanging from the netting. Modern dreamcatchers are created in a variety of sizes and styles, each one customized by the traditions and creative inspirations of the artist.

A lucid dream is a dream in which you, the sleeper, is aware that you are dreaming: an awareness that you are dreaming while you are in a dream. When you are in a lucid dream, you can actively participate in and often manipulate experiences in the dream environment. Learning how to achieve a state of lucid dreaming is a personal growth tool. It may help you resolve personal problems because you’re able to consciously take an active role in your dreams. It can also be a lot of fun.

Lucid Dreams fall into three categories:

• A dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD) starts as a normal dream and the dreamer eventually concludes that he or she is dreaming.

• A wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD) occurs when the dreamer goes from a normal waking state directly into a dream state with no apparent lapse in consciousness.

• A mnemonic-initiated lucid dream (MILD) can happen when the dreamer intentionally affirms to himself or herself that he or she will become lucid during the upcoming sleep. Reaching lucidity can sometimes occur due to dream-signs or spontaneously upon remembrance.

Lucid dreaming can be a challenging art to master, but there are steps you can take to help achieve this state. As you go to sleep, use a suggestion, such as, “While I am dreaming tonight, I will realize I am dreaming”. Use your own words. The intent is to prepare yourself to consciously enter your dream. It’s important to do this as you are drifting off to sleep, but you can do it throughout the day as well. This practice can sometimes bring on a memory of a previous dream. Your attitude should be one of positive expectation, but gently inviting rather than insisting. Avoid applying any type of pressure or anxiety.

Next, work on remembering your dreams after you wake. By getting your mind used to remembering dreams, you are creating a more deliberate connection of awareness between the conscious and unconscious mind. In fact, it’s possible that you may already be having lucid dreams, but aren’t remembering them.

The final step is to attempt to stay in the twilight sleep state, between sleeping and waking, for as long as possible before becoming fully awake. We often have dreams just before we wake. If you can stay still and keep your eyes closed, you may be able to enter back into the dream, but with more conscious awareness, thus creating a lucid dream.

A common problem some people encounter with lucid dreaming is that they wake up as soon as they realize they’re dreaming. This is because the work of making conscious choices while sleeping causes the conscious mind to awake from its slumber. This can be overcome with practice. One technique that may help is to plan your dream. Before you go to sleep, visualize what you will do in your lucid dream. This will help remove an element of conscious choice during your dreams, which may help you stay in the dream state.

Happy Dreaming.

Dreaming is creation
The dreaming spirit

The meaning of dreams has been of interest to mankind throughout history. Dreams come to us in a variety of forms that range from frightening to erotic. We experience images, sounds, sensations, and voices in our dreams that we are unable to influence or control. Do our dreams have special meanings? Are they brought on by incidents that have affected our lives today or possibly sometime in the past?

There are many theories why we dream, where in the brain dreams originate, or even why dreams occur at all. It is not clear what the neurological cause is, or in what phase of sleep dreaming takes place. Many believe dreams are reflections of the unconscious and some that they are predictions of the future or even messages from God. Dreams often inspire artistic and other forms of inspiration. Many dreams of a bizarre or strange nature have been interpreted by some as divine gifts, messages from the past, or predictions of the future.

According to most scientists dreams occur with equal frequency in most people. The ability to recall the dream varies greatly with individuals however. Most dreams it is believed occur during the (REM) sleep, which is a form of sleep that is experienced in the latter portion of the sleep cycle.

Both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung identified dreams as an interaction between the unconscious and the conscious. Jung argued that the dream’s bizarre quality is an efficient language, comparable to poetry and uniquely capable of revealing the underlying meaning. While Freud felt there was an active censorship against the unconscious even during sleep. They both agreed that the unconscious mind is the dominant force of the dream.

Lucid Dreams

Many books, charts, dream dictionaries, and even dream software programs are available today for those wishing to understand the meaning of their dreams. The most popular and by far the most intriguing books are about lucid dreaming. A lucid dream is one where the dreamer recognizes they are in a dream and can take control of it. Lucid dreamers have the power to control their dreams and are capable of creating many fantasies such as making new objects appear, change their form, or even fly. There are many forms of lucid dreams, having in common the fact that at some point in the dream the dreamer recognizes the experience as a dream. While lucid dreaming has been proven to exist, frequent lucid dreaming requires much practice and dedication. Many people practice specific techniques of lucid dreaming for personal or spiritual purposes.
